The Wake-Up Call That Changed How I Think About Money

The Wake-Up Call That Changed How I Think About Money

A few years ago, I was doing all the "right" things—eating well, staying active, prioritizing sleep. But I still felt sick.

The conventional approaches weren't helping, so I started exploring alternative methods—functional medicine, specialized practitioners, treatments that actually made a difference. The problem? None of it was covered by insurance.

Suddenly I was caught between two critical needs: my health and my financial stability. Every healing choice came with a price tag. Every improvement meant another expense.

That's when I realized: you can't separate your financial wellness from your physical wellness. They're intertwined.

The Connection We Ignore

We talk about wellness in terms of movement, nutrition, and mindfulness. But we often ignore one of the biggest stress triggers in modern life: money.

Financial anxiety doesn't stay contained in your budget. It often shows up in your sleep, your relationships, your focus, and your physical health.

In my experience working with wellness-minded individuals, people who feel confident about their finances report feeling more capacity for everything else they care about.

What Changed for Me

After that doctor's appointment, I started approaching financial planning differently. Not as spreadsheets and numbers, but as another pillar of wellbeing.

Financial wellness isn't about a certain net worth or perfect budget. It's about alignment—knowing where your money is going and why, making decisions that support your values, and breathing easier when you think about your financial future.

This is especially true for wellness entrepreneurs and practitioners who navigate variable income. You already understand the stress-health connection. You help your clients with it daily.

But who's helping you manage the financial stress that's quietly affecting your wellbeing?

Three Questions Worth Asking

1. When I think about my finances, what physical sensation do I notice?
Tight chest? Knot in your stomach? That's your body giving you information.

2. Are my spending patterns actually supporting what I value most?
Small misalignments between values and spending can create big stress.

3. Do I have a financial plan that feels sustainable—or am I constantly reacting?
Reactive money management can be exhausting. Strategic planning can help create space.

My Approach Now

I created the Well-Wealth Method after that wake-up call. Financial planning should feel like self-care, not another source of stress.

It's about translating your wellness mindset into practical financial strategies—creating systems that work automatically so your financial wellness doesn't require constant attention.
